About Freyeria putli (Kollar)
Scientific name: Freyeria putli (Kollar). A detailed description provided by Frederic Moore in 1880 is reproduced below. For males: The upperside is violet-brown. The hindwing has indistinct marginal black spots that are bordered pale. Cilia are cinereous-white. The underside is cinereous-brown. On the forewing, there is a brown discocellular spot bordered white, plus a transverse discal row and a submarginal row of similar spots. On the hindwing, there is a black costal spot bordered white, four transverse subbasal spots, and one spot near the base of the abdominal margin; there is also a brown discocellular spot bordered white, a transverse discal row of similar spots, and a marginal row of six prominent black conical spots speckled with metallic-green. The outermost spot at each end is less distinct; each spot is bordered by ochreous-yellow, and has a double white lunular line above it. For females: The upperside is similar to that of males, with the marginal spots on the hindwing having a slight ochreous border. Markings on the underside are more distinct than in males.
