Fragaria nilgerrensis, commonly known as the nilgiri strawberry, is a flowering plant species belonging to the Rosaceae family. It is a type of wild strawberry native to southern and southeast Asia, and it shares a similar appearance with Fragaria moupinensis. Its fruits range in color from white to light pink, and have a flavor that is reminiscent of peach. This species has no commercial value for its fruit. All strawberry species have a base haploid chromosome count of 7. Fragaria nilgerrensis is a diploid species, meaning it has two sets of these chromosomes, giving it a total of 14 chromosomes.
