About Formica lemani Bondroit, 1917
Formica lemani is an ant species that resembles Formica fusca. It was not formally recognized as a distinct species separate from Formica fusca until 1917, and was not clearly described until 1954. This ant species occurs across most of Europe, and in parts of Asia. It prefers northern mountainous forests, because it is adapted to cooler temperatures. It lives in the coniferous forests of these regions.
