About Flavoparmelia baltimorensis (Gyeln. & Fóriss) Hale

Flavoparmelia baltimorensis, commonly called the rock greenshield lichen (per *Lichens of North America*), is a medium to large foliose lichen. When dry, its upper thallus surface is yellow green. Its lobes are rounded and lack pseudocyphellae. The upper surface is covered with globose, pustule-like growths that resemble isidia. The lower surface of the lichen is black, with a narrow brown zone along the margins. It grows on rock, in both shaded and exposed areas.
