About Fimbristylis vahlii (Lam.) Link

Fimbristylis vahlii is a species of sedge that is commonly known by the common name Vahl's fimbry. This species is native to most of Central America and the southern half of North America, where it grows in wet habitats. It is a small, clumping sedge that produces rounded stems just a few centimeters high, surrounded by curling, thready leaves. An inflorescence grows at the top of the stem: it is a cluster of several cylindrical, pointed spikelets, surrounded by long, narrow, twisting bracts. The fruit it produces is a tiny achene, around half a millimeter wide.
