Fimbristylis polytrichoides (Retz.) Vahl, a species of fimbry, has the common name rusty sedge. It is native to east Africa, Madagascar, China, Southeast Asia, New Guinea, and Australia. In Australia, the plant is common along coastlines and estuaries. Its flowers have a distinctive rusty brown color, and grow on a single spikelet, blooming from May to July.
