About Fimbristylis aestivalis (Retz.) Vahl
Fimbristylis aestivalis, commonly known as summer fimbry, is a sedge belonging to the family Cyperaceae that is native to Australia. Its specific epithet aestivalis comes from Latin, and translates to "pertaining to the summer". This is an annual, grass-like or herbaceous sedge that typically grows to a height between 0.07 and 0.09 metres (0.23 to 0.30 ft) and has a tufted growth habit. It blooms between June and July, producing brown flowers. In Western Australia, it grows in alluvium along creeks and in other damp areas within the Kimberley region.
