About Filoboletus manipularis (Berk.) Singer

Filoboletus manipularis (Berk.) Singer is an agaric fungus species that belongs to the family Mycenaceae. It is distributed across Australasia, Malaysia, and the Pacific islands. Both the mycelium and fruit bodies of this fungus grow in forests, and they may be bioluminescent. Its fruiting bodies show a wide range of morphological variations that have not yet been linked to any genetic factors. References to Filoboletus manipularis appear in Japanese folklore and Indonesian food culture. Populations of this fungus occur in tropical regions of Asia, Australia, and the Pacific Islands. Clusters of its fruit bodies are typically found growing on rotted or rotting wood in forest environments. In Japan, Filoboletus manipularis is classified as endangered in Chiba Prefecture, and it is listed as near threatened in Miyazaki Prefecture.
