About Ficus craterostoma Warb. ex Mildbr. & Burret

Ficus craterostoma Warb. ex Mildbr. & Burret is a species of strangler fig, which grows as a fig shrub or tree in the Afrotropics. It can reach a maximum height of 20 m. Its populations are distributed in two main regions: lowland tropical and swamp forests in western Africa, and afromontane forests including rocky habitats along Africa's eastern escarpments. Where the western and eastern population ranges meet in central Africa, they occupy different altitude zones, and each appears to host its own unique species of pollinating wasp. For these reasons, the western and eastern populations may actually be separate species.
