About Ficus callosa Willd.
Ficus callosa Willd. is a tree that reaches approximately 35 to 45 meters (115 to 148 feet) in height. Its trunk can grow to around 35 centimeters (14 inches) in diameter, and individuals may develop large buttresses. Leaves on young plants are lobed and larger than leaves found on older, mature plants. Mature leaves are shiny green on the upper surface and paler on the lower surface, with around 8 to 11 pairs of lateral veins. The syconia (fig fruits) of this species grow in leaf axils, either singly or in pairs. When mature, the syconia are green-yellow, somewhat pear-shaped, and measure approximately 25 millimeters (1 inch) long by 15 millimeters (0.6 inches) wide. This species is dioecious, and female, male, and gall flowers all occur within a single syconium.
