About Ficus abutilifolia (Miq.) Miq.
Ficus abutilifolia (Miq.) Miq., commonly known as the large-leaved rock fig, is an African rock-splitting fig species. Its populations occur in two disjunct regions, one north of the equator and the other south of the equator. These two separate populations are pollinated by different species of fig wasps, and are also morphologically distinct from one another. The species is named for its broadly ovate leaves, which resemble the leaves of plants in the Abutilon genus. This fig is almost entirely restricted to growing on cliff faces and rock outcrops. It can be easily identified by its large, glabrous leaves and its smooth, pale bark.
