About Fagraea ceilanica Thunb.
Fagraea ceilanica Thunb. has fleshy, shiny leaves that are typically lanceolate in shape. Leaves measure 100–180 mm long by 50–80 mm wide, and their petioles can reach up to 25 mm in length. Its inflorescences grow either terminally or axillarily, and bear only a few flowers. Flowers are 60–80 mm across, cream or white in color, and typically bloom from March to August. The calyx is 5-lobed, with each lobe approximately 8 mm long. The corolla is funnel-shaped, 40–50 mm long, and has five broad lobes twisted to the right. Five adnate stamens are attached to the base of the corolla. A capitate stigma is attached to the ovary, which is 2-celled and holds many ovules in each cell. Fruiting typically occurs from August to November. Fruits are shiny berries that measure 20–40 mm long by 15–30 mm wide, and contain many seeds.
