It is primarily distributed across the Atlantic Coastal Plain and Great Lakes region of eastern North America, ranging from Manitoba through Michigan to Nova Scotia and Maine, extending south to Georgia. The wingspan of adult Exyra fax measures between 20 and 22 mm, or 0.79 to 0.87 inches. Adult moths are active in flight from June through August. The larvae of this species feed on Sarracenia purpurea.
