About Extriplex californica (Moq.) E.H.Zacharias
Extriplex californica is a perennial herb that grows from a fleshy caudex and taproot. It produces many spreading stems, reaching a maximum width of around 80 centimeters (32 inches) and a maximum height of 30 centimeters (12 inches). Its scaly gray-green leaves are lance-shaped to oval, and measure less than 3 centimeters (1 inch) long. This species can be either monoecious or dioecious: some individuals produce both male and female flower types, while others only produce one type. Both flower types form inflorescences that are dense, rough clusters of very small flowers.
