This species, Euxoa recussa Hübner, has a wingspan ranging from 32 to 40 mm. As noted by Warren, the synonyms for this species are Agrotis telifera Donz., Agrotis florigera Ev., and Euxoa transylvanica H-Sch. The forewing is purplish-grey with red-brown suffusion. The claviform stigma is large and blackish, while the orbicular and reniform stigmas are brown with grey annuli. The cell of the forewing is black, with no black streak below the cell. The hindwing is luteous grey with a dark termen. This species is generally distributed across Europe, and also occurs in Turkestan and Siberia.
