Eutrochium steelei, commonly called Appalachian Joe-Pye weed or Steele's eupatorium, is a North American plant species in the Asteraceae family. It is endemic to the Appalachian Mountains of the eastern United States, where it occurs only in the states of Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Georgia. This species is a perennial herb that can grow up to 200 cm (78.5 in; 6.5 ft) tall. Its stems are greenish-purple and solid (not hollow). A single plant can produce numerous small pink or purple flower heads; each head contains 5 to 10 disc flowers, and has no ray flowers.
