About Euthalia anosia Moore, 1857

Euthalia anosia, commonly known as the grey baron, is a butterfly species belonging to the subfamily Limenitidinae of the family Nymphalidae. This species is native to the Indomalayan realm. It is one of the most easily identifiable species within the genus Euthalia, due to the ashy-grey coloration of its upper wing surface. The degree of greenish suffusion on this upper surface varies based on the species' locality. Females are always larger than males. The forewings of females have rounded or dentate transcellular spots that are distinctly clear white. The under wing surface is very similar in appearance to the upper surface, only slightly paler; it is also ashy-grey, faintly clouded with brown. Hindwings occasionally have a very faint, faded greenish irroration.
