Native Distribution
This species is native to southern Africa, where its range extends from the Eastern Cape (occurring both along the coast and inland) northward to KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, and Eswatini.
Native Habitat
It typically grows on forest edges, in riverine bush, in ravines, in coastal scrub, in grassland, and in disturbed areas.
Introduced Status
It grows as a ruderal weed in New South Wales, though it is not invasive in all locations where it is cultivated or has become naturalized.
