About Eurybia mirabilis (Torr. & A.Gray) G.L.Nesom
Eurybia mirabilis, commonly called the bouquet aster or dwarf aster, is an herbaceous perennial plant belonging to the family Asteraceae. This species is endemic to the lower Piedmont region of North Carolina and South Carolina, located in the southeastern United States. It occurs only infrequently across this small limited range, which places it under conservation concern. Today, Eurybia mirabilis is mostly restricted to inaccessible bluffs, because most of its other historical habitats have been converted into farmland. It most commonly grows in deciduous woods, mixed deciduous woods, on slopes, or on alluvial plains. It typically prefers soils that are basic to neutral in pH. Its flower heads bloom from late summer to early fall, with white to lavender ray florets surrounding pale yellow central discs that are sometimes tinged with purple.
