About Eurrhypis pollinalis (Denis & Schiffermüller), 1775
This moth species, Eurrhypis pollinalis (Denis & Schiffermüller), 1775, has a wingspan of 28–33 mm. Both its forewings and hindwings range in color from dark brown to almost black. The forewings each bear two large white spots, while the hindwings each have one smaller white spot and a shorter, smaller white streak, which are smaller than the markings found on the forewings. The outer edge of both wings is lined with white. These moths fly during the day in sunny conditions from April to August, with the flight period varying by location, and they have two overlapping generations each year. They overwinter in the caterpillar life stage. The caterpillars of Eurrhypis pollinalis feed on a limited number of legume species (family Fabaceae), including broom (Genista), liquorice (Glycyrrhiza), Laburnum anagyroides, Cytisus scoparius, and Ononis repens. This species is found across southern and central Europe. The moths favor warm, sunny open countryside habitats, and in mountainous areas they can be found up to an elevation of 1500 meters.
