About Eupoecilia ambiguella (Hübner, 1796)

Eupoecilia ambiguella (Hübner, 1796) has a wingspan most commonly cited as 12–15 mm across most sources, while Zhang and Houhun report a different range of 9–15 mm. This species is distributed across a broad range extending from the United Kingdom to Japan. It occurs as far north as Fennoscandia and as far south as the Mediterranean Basin. Its geographic range partially overlaps with that of another moth species, Lobesia botrana. Compared to L. botrana, Eupoecilia ambiguella favors colder, more humid habitats. In regions where their ranges overlap, E. ambiguella may be found at higher altitudes, or the two species may occur together in the same vineyard.
