Eupithecia gilvipennata is a species of moth that belongs to the family Geometridae. It was first formally described by Samuel E. Cassino and Louis W. Swett in 1922. This moth species is distributed along the Pacific coast of North America, ranging from British Columbia in the north, through Colorado, south to California and Arizona. The wingspan of adult Eupithecia gilvipennata is approximately 25 millimeters. Adults of this species emerge very early in spring. In central California, they are active on the wing from late February to early March, while in locations further north, they are active from late April to early May. The larvae of Eupithecia gilvipennata feed on the flowers and fruits of plants from the Arctostaphylos genus. This includes the species Arctostaphylos pungens, Arctostaphylos manzanita, and Arctostaphylos viscida.
