About Eupithecia columbiata (Dyar, 1904)

Eupithecia columbiata is a species of moth belonging to the family Geometridae. It was first formally described by Harrison Gray Dyar Jr. in 1904. This moth is found across North America; its range extends from eastern Newfoundland and Labrador west to Vancouver Island. In the eastern part of its range, it reaches as far south as North Carolina, and in the western part, it extends south to Colorado. The wingspan of adult Eupithecia columbiata measures between 13 and 24 millimeters. In Alberta, adult moths are active in spring, from mid-April to mid-June. The larvae of this species feed on various plant species, specifically Rhamnus purshiana, Betula papyrifera, and species from the genera Salix, Prunus, Alnus, Cornus, Philadelphus, Ceanothus, Populus, Amelanchier and Acer.
