About Euphorbia thymifolia L.

Euphorbia thymifolia L., commonly called red caustic-creeper, is a prostrate annual herb belonging to the plant family Euphorbiaceae. It is native to tropical and subtropical America, and grows in seasonally dry tropical biomes. This species produces milky sap. Its stems are velvet-hairy, red, and can reach up to 25 cm in length. It bears small ovate leaves, and produces very small cyathia flowers that grow in the leaf axils. It is widely used as a traditional medicine in Africa and Asia, is also harvested for use as food, and is traded in local markets.
