About Euphorbia schizoloba Engelm.

Euphorbia schizoloba Engelm., synonymized as Euphorbia incisa, is a species of spurge commonly known as Mojave spurge. It is native to the southwestern United States, where it grows on desert hills and in desert mountains. This plant is a perennial herb that grows upright stems reaching up to 40 centimeters tall; stems sometimes have a covering of sparse hairs. Alternately arranged leaves line the stems; these leaves are oval in shape with pointed tips, and grow up to 2 centimeters long. The plant’s inflorescence takes the form of a cyathium, with bell-shaped bracts that surround four tiny glands. These glands have flat, fringed appendages. Several staminate flowers and one long pistillate flower sit at the center of this inflorescence structure.
