About Euphorbia rhombifolia Boiss.
This species, scientifically known as Euphorbia rhombifolia Boiss., typically grows to between 60 and 70 cm in height. It has a tuberous root system that is often eaten by porcupines. Its stems are thin, measuring 3 to 5mm across, erect, grey, and branching; the branches are dichotomous, and taper to soft points. Smaller plants from the south-western Cape, previously classified as E. caterviflora, only reach 30 cm in height. The leaves are small at 1 to 3mm, dark in color, triangular in shape, and deciduous. Its small flowerheads measure 3mm across, and emerge from winter through spring.
