About Euphorbia resinifera O.Berg

Euphorbia resinifera, commonly known as resin spurge, is a spurge species native to Morocco. It grows on the slopes of the Atlas Mountains, and is also sometimes called African spurge due to its native range. It is similar to its close relative Euphorbia echinus, which grows on the Moroccan coast and the Canary Islands. The dried latex from this plant was used in ancient medicine. The plant contains resiniferatoxin, an extremely potent capsaicin analog that has been tested as an analgesic since 1997.
