About Euphorbia marginata Pursh
This species, commonly known as snow-on-the-mountain, has grey-green leaves growing along its branches. Smaller specialized leaves called bracts or cyathophylls are arranged in terminal whorls, with wide white bands trimming their edges. Combined with the plant's white flowers, this pattern creates the appearance that inspired its common name. Snow-on-the-mountain has been found to emit large amounts of sulfur gas, most of which is in the form of dimethyl sulfide (DMS).
