Euphorbia lurida Engelm. is a species of spurge commonly called woodland spurge. It is native to the southwestern United States, ranging from California to Utah, and grows in a number of different habitats across this range. It is a common perennial herb that typically does not grow over half a meter tall. Small oval green leaves grow along its entire erect stems. At the tips of the stems are inflorescences holding tiny glandular flowers that have ridged or toothed tips. The plant produces a rounded fruit capsule a few millimeters wide, which contains tiny gray seeds.
