About Euphorbia griffithii Hook.f.
Euphorbia griffithii, commonly called Griffith's spurge, is a flowering plant species belonging to the spurge family Euphorbiaceae. It is native to Bhutan, Tibet, and southwest China. This plant is a spreading, rhizomatous herbaceous perennial that grows up to 90 cm (35 in) tall. It has many erect reddish stems and narrow dark green leaves with red central veins; these leaves turn red and yellow in autumn. In summer, it produces flower heads called cyathia that are a striking mix of brilliant red and yellow. E. griffithii is a vigorous plant and can become invasive. Numerous cultivars have been selected for garden cultivation, including 'Dixter' and 'Fireglow'. Its Latin specific epithet griffithii honors William Griffith (1810–1845), a British naturalist and botanist.
