Euphorbia eriantha is a spurge species, commonly known as beetle spurge, and also called Desert Poinsettia and Mexican Poinsettia. It is native to desert regions of northern Mexico and the southwestern United States, ranging from California to Texas. Its flowering season varies by location: February to October in Arizona, March to April in California, and January to December in Texas. This species is an annual herb that grows between 15 and 50 centimeters tall. Its leaves are long, narrow, and pointed, sometimes covered in sparse hairs, and measure 2 to 7 centimeters in length. Foliage color is dark, ranging from greenish to purplish or reddish. The inflorescence grows at the tip of branches, and holds staminate or pistillate flowers that are only a few millimeters wide. The fruit is an oblong, hairy capsule half a centimeter long, marked with gray and black mottling. This capsule contains bumpy white or gray seeds.
