About Euphorbia dendroides L.
Euphorbia dendroides L. is a bushy plant that has uses in traditional medicine. Like many other species in the genus Euphorbia, it produces a toxic, white, sticky sap. This sap has been used since ancient times to treat skin growths including cancers, tumors, and warts. This species has a wide distribution across the Mediterranean region, covering parts of Europe, southwest Asia, and North Africa. It stretches from Morocco and the Balearic Islands in the west, to Syria, Jordan, and Egypt in the east. Euphorbia dendroides is sensitive to frost, so it only grows on protected, sunny mountainsides in hilly areas within its native range. It has been introduced to countries outside its original distribution as an ornamental tree.
