About Euphonia cyanocephala (Vieillot, 1819)

Golden-rumped euphonia, scientifically known as Chlorophonia cyanocephala, is a bird species belonging to the family Fringillidae. This species was previously classified in the family Thraupidae, and was formerly placed in the genus Euphonia. Phylogenetic evidence shows that this species actually groups with the genus Chlorophonia. It can be found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, subtropical or tropical moist montane forest, and heavily degraded former forest.
