About Eupholidoptera chabrieri (Charpentier, 1825)

Adult Eupholidoptera chabrieri reach 20 to 30 millimeters (0.79 to 1.18 inches) in length. The base body color ranges from green to light green to yellow-green. The top of the head is orange, with a small number of black spots on its front. The compound eyes are pale brown, and the antennae are longer than the body. The flat, extended pronotum has a black band with an orange-yellow outline along its lateral edges. The abdomen is green, quite thick, with a yellow underside and a black final segment. This species has notably long legs, with a distinct pattern of black spots and markings, plus small spines on the hind legs. Females have tiny dark brown wings that are partially hidden under the pronotum, while males have very short tegmina. Females have a slightly curved ovipositor that is somewhat shorter than the body. This species of bush cricket is mainly found in France, southern Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Romania, Croatia, and Greece. It inhabits forest edges, clearings, thickets, and shrubs.
