About Eupatorium mohrii Greene
Eupatorium mohrii Greene, commonly known as Mohr's thoroughwort, is a herbaceous perennial plant in the family Asteraceae. It is native to the southeastern and south-central United States, where it grows in the coastal plain stretching from Virginia to Texas. It has also been recorded in the Dominican Republic. This perennial herb grows up to 100 cm (40 inches) tall and produces tuberous rhizomes. Like other species in the genus Eupatorium, its inflorescences hold many tiny white flower heads. Each flower head contains 5 disc florets and no ray florets. It can form natural hybrids with Eupatorium serotinum and Eupatorium rotundifolium. Its full distribution spans from southeast Virginia southward to South Florida, and westward to Texas. It grows in moist areas, including pond edges, sandy soils, moist pine savannas, and other wet habitats. It is commonly found in fire-dependent pinelands, and its seeds are able to persist in the soil seed bank after fire disturbance.
