About Eumenes mediterraneus Kriechbaumer, 1879

Eumenes mediterraneus can reach a body length of approximately 15 millimeters. Its body is black with distinct yellow markings. The clypeus is mainly yellow, and the scutellum bears two large yellow spots. Tergite I has a broad apical yellow band. Tergite II has two large yellow bands on its lateral sides, plus a pale, translucent apical lamella. Tergites V and VI each have a yellow apical band. Males of this species have antennae that are curled at the tip. In females, the segment between the compound eyes is yellow, with black spots present in its lower portion. This species occurs in most European countries, as well as the Near East and North Africa.
