About Eugenia myrcianthes Nied.
Eugenia myrcianthes Nied. is a densely branched tree with dark, fissured bark that reaches 4 to 8 m in height. It has evergreen foliage; its leaves are simple and opposite, with pubescent petioles. Leaves range from ovate-oblong to lanceolate with acuminate tips, and are 3 to 6 cm long. Leaves are coriaceous, covered in pubescence when young and becoming glabrous as they age. This species blooms in early spring. Its flowers are typical of the myrtle family, appearing in leaf axils; they are white, solitary, and have up to fifty stamens. Around two months after flowering, it produces fruits. The fruit is globose, yellow, and grows up to 5 cm in diameter. Its taste is similar to peach (Prunus persica), which gives the species its common name of peach tree. The fruit is edible, with orange, very juicy pulp that has a slightly tart aftertaste when fully ripe.
