About Eudonia steropaea Meyrick
Eudonia steropaea is a species of moth in the family Crambidae. It was first named by Edward Meyrick in 1884, and Meyrick published a detailed description of the species in 1885. This moth is endemic to New Zealand. It has a wingspan ranging from 13 to 16 mm. Its forewings are pale fuscous, speckled with darker scales and markings. A small blackish spot sits at the base of the forewing's inner margin, and a straight black streak runs from the base to a point just before the middle of the disc, almost reaching a triangular blackish blotch. The first cross line is marked by an angulated, darker posterior margin, while the second cross line is white. Its hindwings are grey-whitish, with the hindmargin somewhat suffused with darker grey. Adult moths of this species have been recorded flying in January.
