About Eudonia periphanes Meyrick

Eudonia periphanes is a species of moth belonging to the family Crambidae. This species was first named by Edward Meyrick in 1884, and Meyrick published a full, detailed description of Eudonia periphanes in 1885. It is endemic to New Zealand. This moth has a wingspan of approximately 20 millimeters. Its forewings are grey with a slight brownish tint, and feature a thick black streak that runs from the base of the costa. The first line on the forewings is white, with a black margin along its posterior edge, while the second forewing line is also white, and is margined with blackish colouring. The hindwings are a pale whitish-grey; the postmedian line and the hindmargin are a darker shade of grey. Adult individuals of Eudonia periphanes have been recorded in flight during the month of January.
