About Euchloron megaera Linnaeus, 1758

Euchloron is a monotypic moth genus in the family Sphingidae, first described by Jean Baptiste Boisduval in 1875. This genus contains only one species: Euchloron megaera, commonly called the verdant hawk. This species is found across most of Africa and in Yemen, and it is migratory. The forewings of Euchloron megaera measure 40–50 mm in length, and its total wingspan ranges from 96–121 mm. The larvae of this species feed on Ampelopsis quinquefolia, as well as species from the Vigna and Cissus genera.
