About Euchlaena johnsonaria (Fitch, 1870)

Euchlaena johnsonaria, commonly known as Johnson's euchlaena moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Geometridae. This species was first formally described by Asa Fitch in 1870. It is native to North America, with confirmed records ranging from southern coastal British Columbia eastward to Nova Scotia, and extending south to New Jersey, Missouri, and Oregon. Its typical habitat is deciduous wooded areas. The wingspan of this moth measures approximately 32 mm. Adult Johnson's euchlaena moths are active in flight from May through August. The larvae of Euchlaena johnsonaria feed on a variety of deciduous trees and shrubs, including species from the genera Cornus, Salix, Spiraea, Vaccinium, Ulmus, Fraxinus, and Betula.
