The Kalahari scrub robin is a bird species classified in the family Muscicapidae, and it is also sometimes referred to as the sandy scrub robin. Its scientific name is Erythropygia paena A.Smith, 1836, and it is sometimes referenced under the synonym Cercotrichas paena. This species is found across southern Angola, Botswana, Namibia, northern South Africa, and Zimbabwe. It naturally occurs in sandveld areas with low trees and scrub, along woodland edges, and in savanna. It can also live in human-altered environments, including old fields and gardens. This species is common and is not considered threatened by human activities.
