About Erythrina latissima E.Mey.
Erythrina latissima E.Mey. has pubescent branchlets and fissured, corky bark. Its foliage is soft in texture and woolly when it first emerges; foliage also bears some prickles, and has prominently raised venation on its lower surface. The plant produces scarlet flowers, which have red, densely velvety calyxes. Flowers can appear from winter to early summer, and usually emerge before new foliage grows. The fruit is a cylindrical articulated pod, that holds orange to red seeds each marked with a black spot.
