About Erysimum arenicola S.Watson
Erysimum arenicola S.Watson, commonly known as the Cascade wallflower, is a plant species native to British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon. It grows at high elevations ranging from 900 to 2200 m in the Cascade Mountains, the Olympic Mountains, and on Vancouver Island. This species is a perennial herb that reaches a maximum height of 30 cm. It has narrow leaves that can grow up to 8 cm long, and produces yellow flowers arranged in a raceme. Its fruits are narrow, elongated siliques that grow up to 10 cm long, and may be straight or twisted. These mature fruits are strongly torulose, meaning the fruit tissue is much narrower between individual seeds, which gives the silique a lumpy appearance along its entire length.
