About Erysichton lineata (Murray, 1874)

Erysichton lineata (Murray, 1874), commonly called the hairy line-blue, is a species of butterfly belonging to the family Lycaenidae. This species is the only member of the monotypic genus Erysichton. It was first formally described by Richard Paget Murray in 1874. This butterfly is distributed in New Guinea, and along most of the eastern coast of Australia, ranging from Queensland down to New South Wales. It has an approximate wingspan of 20 millimeters. The larvae of this butterfly feed on the flowers of five plant species: Syzygium francisii, Ehretia acuminata, Macadamia integrifolia, Brachychiton acerifolium, and Arytera lautereriana.
