About Eruca vesicaria (L.) Cav.

Eruca vesicaria is a species in the plant genus Eruca that is native to Spain, Morocco, and Algeria. Some botanists treat Eruca vesicaria and E. sativa as the same (conspecific) species. However, the two taxa differ in many morphological features, including sepal persistence, silique shape, and growth habit. Most significantly, they do not hybridize freely with one another, because partial reproductive isolation exists between them. Plants of the World Online currently accepts Eruca vesicaria and E. sativa as two separate, distinct species.
