About Eriovixia laglaizei (Simon, 1877)
Eriovixia laglaizei (Simon, 1877) is a small to medium-sized orb weaver spider that shows distinctive sexual dimorphism. Females are larger than males; females have a total length starting at 6.7 mm, while males reach approximately 5.3 mm in total length. Its yellowish carapace narrows toward the anterior end, and the cephalic area is slightly more elevated than the thoracic area. This species has eight eyes arranged in two rows: the anterior eye row is recurved, and the posterior eye row is almost straight. Its chelicerae are yellowish and robust, bearing four promarginal teeth and three retromarginal teeth. The abdomen is the species' most distinctive feature. It is yellowish grey on the dorsal side, marked with chalk white patches and three pairs of brown sigillae arranged in a longitudinal line. This spider is easily recognizable by its short tail. The abdomen widens gradually toward its midpoint, then narrows to form a prominent hump-like tail at the posterior end. Its legs are long and moderately strong, colored yellow to yellowish brown, with a leg length order of 1-2-4-3. This species has a wide distribution across tropical Asia, and has been recorded from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, China (including the provinces of Hainan, Guangxi, Fujian, and Yunnan), Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, and Sri Lanka.
