About Eriospermum paradoxum (Jacq.) Ker Gawl.

Eriospermum paradoxum, commonly called "haasklossie", is a geophytic plant species belonging to the genus Eriospermum. It is indigenous to the Cape region of South Africa, where it grows in sandy or rocky clay soils located in arid winter-rainfall areas. This species has an unusual structure: it produces a true leaf that resembles the scale leaves found on some junipers. An enation grows out from this true leaf, reaching up to 15 cm (5.9 inches) in height, with a width that measures half of its height. The structure is semisucculent.
