About Eriophorum tenellum Nutt.

Eriophorum tenellum Nutt. is a perennial herbaceous flowering plant that spreads via underground rhizomes. It is native to eastern North America, growing from Nunavut, Canada south to Pennsylvania in the United States, and extending as far west as Minnesota. Within the United States, it is most abundant in New England and the upper Great Lakes region. This species is classified as an obligate wetland (OBL) species. In New England, it grows most commonly in bogs, fens, and meadows. It flowers in June. After pollination, it develops cotton-like fruiting heads over the summer; in Minnesota, fruiting specifically takes place in July and August.
