About Eriophorum gracile W.D.J.Koch
Eriophorum gracile W.D.J.Koch is a species of flowering plant in the sedge family, Cyperaceae. It has the common names slender cottongrass and slender cottonsedge. This species has a circumboreal distribution, extending south into mountain ranges of the Northern Hemisphere, and grows in wet areas such as bogs. It is a thin, tall perennial herb that produces a slender, rounded, solid, mostly naked stem that reaches 30 to 60 centimeters in height. A fluffy inflorescence sits atop the stem, holding a wispy, cottony white flower. These plants grow in colonies, and often spread vegetatively via rhizomes.
